As a vocalist, Ruth Royall has been a fixture in the drum and bass world for a good many years. She made a splash with her first collab on the track “Refuge” with Grafix in 2019, becoming a fast Hospital favorite and a go-to for other big labels like Viper, Shogun and sister label Elevate, Korsakov and Soulvent. She’s worked with more big names than we van even list here, from the afore-mentioned Grafix to Ekko & SIdetrack, Pola & Bryson, Makoto and Mollie Collins. Royall’s discography isn’t just about racking up cred, however (though she was recently nominated at…
The Chainsmokers have a bit of a notorious persona in the music industry. Though their antics have calmed down significantly, when they first started, they were definitely the party boys of EDM, especially considering their meteoric rise after “#Selfie.” But then came “Closer” and “Roses” and then their debut album… now they’re one of the most successful touring acts in the world. That being said, they still retain some of that laissez-faire attitude, as we find out on the latest episode of Call Her Daddy with Alex Cooper where they talk about “cheating, threesomes, and toxic exes,” per the title.…
It’s a great week for lineup announcements, with Bonnaroo and Coachella already dropping their lineups on Monday and Tuesday, respectively. Today, we get yet another lineup, this time out of Escapade in Ottawa, Canada. The lineup is stacked with a large variety of artists from house to bass and in between. Alesso, Afrojack, deadmau5, Excision, Infected Mushroom, Zedd, Rezz, Subtronics, Zomboy, Tiesto, Marshmello, and more make up a pretty hefty assortment of headliner-level acts, with plenty more to see during the day. From Eptic b2b Space Laces to Black Tiger Sex Machine to Joyryde b2b Habstrakt, to Jauz b2b NGHTMRE,…
Already a fixture in the Australian bass music scene, Doctor Werewolf has been releasing dubstep and trap since 2010. Starting in 2014, he caught the ears of the likes of Simplify., Dim Mak and Disciple for his dubstep, so he’s become a bit of a mucky muck in that genre as well. It was Play Me label head Reid Speed and Skellytn, however, who discovered Doctor Werewolf’s hidden aptitude for D&B and conscripted him to remix a track on Skellytn’s Neurocomputer Remixed album, which released in May of 2022. After an original track on Bassrush Records’ um-and-comers compilation album The Prophecy: Volume…
We thought Monday, we thought Tuesday… apparently the lineup was stuck in drafts. Coachella has announced its 2023 lineup with Bad Bunny, BLACKPINK, and Frank Ocean tapped as headliners for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, respectively. Also coming back to the desert for the first time since 2016 will be Calvin Harris, making him the biggest EDM act on the lineup, billing-wise, for the festival. Other notable EDM acts include The Chemical Brothers and TESTPILOT on Friday, as well as Alison Wonderland’s Whyte Fang project. Saturday features the first Coachella appearance of Eric Prydz presents HOLO, as well as a rare…
This year’s Bonnaroo lineup just dropped and it’s looking pretty, pretty nice. Among the EDM acts, Zeds Dead and Liquid Stranger headline Thursday night, typically the “soft open” for the main festival weekend though no less important. GRiZ, Subtronics, Peekaboo, Apashe, Boogie T b2b Dirt Monkey b2b Sub Docta and NotLö are handling Friday with Kendrick Lamar headlining. On Saturday, Odesza takes the headline slot with Louis The Child, STS9, Big Wild, Bob Moses, Elderbrook, Walker & Royce, and Giolì & Assia. The final day of the festival sees Alesso, Jauz, MK, Wax Motif, and Rome in Silver closing things out.…
Aside August’s rough and deep collab track with My Nu Leng called “Sahara Dub” on the fellow Bristol boys’ clandestine new label Wavelengths and a VIP of their 2020 hit “Pure X” for RAM’s 2022 annual, Mob Tactics haven’t released any new music since their War City EP in June, 2020. This isn’t all that surprising, as the pandemic either slowed or stopped production for quite a few artists, and each is taking the time needed for them to get back into the swing of things. The Mob Tactics duo also have the extra difficulty of living six thousand miles from each…

This past weekend saw the release of Skrillex’s latest single, “Way Back” with PinkPantheress and Trippie Redd, but not before he, Fred again.., and Four Tet descended upon Electric Ballroom in London four a nearly 4-hour set showing off new material and of course their latest single “Rumble,” for which Flowdan of course made an appearance. Plenty of new music was showcased at the event, as well, not least of all this insane collaboration between Skrillex, Missy Elliott, and Mr. Oizo. If the “This the kinda beat that go…” sample is familiar to you, you might remember it from “Boy…
Last year, ACRAZE finally dropped “Believe” with Goodboys, his anticipated follow-up to the global smash hit, “Do It To It.” As we wrote in our review when it finally released, we were pleased that he avoided the “replicated lightning in a bottle” route and went a bit more melodic rather than club-focused. Luckily, if you were missing the club sound, Galantis has a new remix out today exactly for that purpose. The energy is turned up to 10 and the vocals from Goodboys shine even brighter with the poppy synths and bouncy rhythm. Check it out below! Photo via…
